About Little Red Kettle

Little Red Kettle grew from Red Kettle, the acclaimed Waterford theatre company as its education and outreach programme and was then, as it is now, committed to introducing theatre to children and young people that spoke to and of them.
In 2015 it was officially constituted as its own CLG with its own structure, board of directors and objectives. Based in Waterford city, we create work with and for children and young people in the region. Our annual artistic programme includes a weekly workshop programme for 7 to 17 year olds, an interactive play for primary schools that tours to approximately 50 schools annually and a series of projects throughout the year that explore theatre and performance with the voice of the children and young people at its core.

OUR VISION
Our vision is to empower children and young people to tell their own stories through engagement with theatre and play.

OUR MISSION
We produce theatre and an accessible artistic programme for, by and with children and young people from all backgrounds.

OUR CORE VALUES

Little Red Kettle are committed to providing excellent artistic and creative experiences for children and young people. We believe every child has the right to a rich and diverse artistic and cultural life and we believe they have the right to have their voices and stories heard.

PLAY Little Red Kettle recognises the importance of play and how children and young people can use it as part of their development and their entry way to creativity. We create spaces for children and young people to play safely and without judgement and to create their own stories that speak to them and of them.

COLLABORATION The company is built and depends on collaboration and partnership. We value collaborations with artists, children, young people and our community and understand that collaboration involves co-operation and creating a space where everyone is heard. We want to provide opportunities for theatre makers and artists to make work with and for younger audiences.

PARTICIPATION It is vital that the children and young people who engage with Little Red Kettle participate in a way that is meaningful to them. We are committed to embedding a participation model in how we make decisions, which is specifically modelled in our Culture Club and how members can feed directly into artistic and strategic decision making.

ACCESS Little Red Kettle endeavour to make our programme accessible to all children and young people regardless of their background and experiences. We address access by removing financial barriers, considering the spaces we work in and working directly in communities where access to the arts and theatre is not always available.

Your donation, however small will help us to continue our legacy of introducing children to the arts in safe, enjoyable and creative space.

Thank you!
